Jim Clark was born in Berwickshire (Scotland) in 1936. Son of a farmer, when he was 10 years ago he drove a 1936 Austin Seven. He mixed farm life and cars until he was 21, when he started his racing career. He won Pau Grand Prix in 1961; then in 1962 he got the Belgium, Great Britain and USA Grands Prix, and he won non-official races in Mexico and Johannesburg. He was Formula 1 champion in 1963 and 1965; he was third in 1964. He won Barcelona Grand Prix in April 1967. On April 7, 1968, at the wheel of a Lotus Ford Cosworth at 250 km/h, he died at a corner of Hockenheim Circuit (Germany).
